Underwater ROV

Every spring for the past 8 years, the MakerSpace has hosted teams as they prepare for the annual MATE ROV regional competition. Teams are made up of 3-6 students in grades 5th-12th and participation is open to any child in our region. Practices are Mondays from 2 - 5 pm and Saturdays from 10 - 12 pm, beginning February 2, 2026. This year’s competition will be held May 9th in Newport, Oregon. Project Invent

Project Invent teams from across the U.S. pitch the solution they’ve created for their community partner to a panel of judges from the tech industry, hoping to win funds to develop their product. For five years straight, teams from White Salmon have convinced judges to invest in their idea!

Project Invent teams form in September and compete in May. This year’s team currently meets in room P3 at Columbia High School every Thursday at 10:30.
